The Library of Congress introduced its 2025 picks for the Nationwide Recording Registry, an eclectic record that ranges from Elton John‘s “Goodbye Yellow Brick Highway” album, the solid recording of Hamilton, the Microsoft Home windows reboot chime and “Minecraft: Quantity Alpha.”
Additionally on the record: Amy Winehouse’s “Again to Black,” Tracy Chapman’s 1988 debut album, Celine Dion’s 1997 single “My Coronary heart Will Go On” from Titanic, and Roy Rogers and Dale Evans’ traditional “Completely satisfied Trails.”
The recordings have been chosen as “audio treasures worthy of preservation all the time,” based mostly on their “cultural, historic or aesthetic significance within the nation’s recorded sound heritage,” in keeping with the Library of Congress.
“These are the sounds of America – our wide-ranging historical past and tradition. The Nationwide Recording Registry is our evolving nation’s playlist,” Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden stated in an announcement. The library provides 25 new entrants every year.
