Jo Koy’s current worldwide flight was no laughing matter.
The comic, 53, was a passenger aboard a Philippine Airways flight that was pressured to make an emergency touchdown shortly after takeoff.
“We needed to do an emergency touchdown in Tokyo, Japan. However I am gonna say this, the flight attendants on Philippine Airways have been wonderful,” Koy stated in an Instagram reel. “You have been wonderful, above and past. You guys have been execs. Thanks for remaining calm in a scenario that would have went south quick.”
He shared extra particulars within the submit’s caption.
“We have been on our approach again to L.A. from Philippines when your complete cabin full of smoke (as a consequence of electrical fireplace),” he wrote. “We then made an emergency touchdown into Tokyo Japan. Hats off to the @flypal flight attendants and pilots they have been greater than nice. Ps. Inform everybody you’re keen on them on a regular basis. Mahal kita [Tagalog for ‘I love you’].”
Whereas sitting at a sushi restaurant, Koy confirmed that he and his group, together with his son, have been “protected” in Tokyo and have been awaiting their subsequent flight, which was 9 hours from the time of his add.

Citing Philippine Airways, the outlet reported that the cabin smoke was emitted by one in all two air con models.
One other passenger on the flight, Valerie Del Castillo, recounted her expertise to ABS-CBN, expressing that she woke as much as the scent of “burning plastic.”
Noting that the “smoke stuffed the air,” she stated flight workers handed out moist face towels and that some passengers used their in-flight eye masks for defense. Jennifer Taylor, one other passenger, stated some folks complained that the smoke stung their eyes and damage their throats.

After the emergency touchdown, the over 350 passengers and crew members have been reported protected.
Philippine Airways stated, per ABS-CBN, that “the flight landed safely at Haneda at 3:30 AM native time. Following a number of requests, the plane was lastly assigned a disembarkation gate at 10:00 AM.” PEOPLE has reached out to Philippine Airways for remark.
In accordance with a press launch, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon, via the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) and Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB), instructed Philippine Airways to “clarify the incident concerning the diverted PR102 flight and guarantee compensation [for ]the affected passengers.”
